Call for scientific papers from delegates

Scientific papers are invited from Professionals, Scientists or Post Graduate Students in the field of Occupational Health, Safety and Environment.

Guidelines for Abstract Submission:
1. Categories for Abstract Submission :

A. ICOH Scientific Committee Program

a. Occupational health services;
b. Education and training;
c. Occupational safety & health in mines;
d. Occupational Health in construction industry;
e. Small enterprises and informal work;
f. Occupational Health and development;
g. Rural health: agriculture, pesticides, organic dusts;
h. Occupational Health in the chemical industry, chemical exposure
i. Other category or belonging to ≥ 1 category

2. Language:
Abstracts must be written and presented only in English. Please make sure that there are no spelling or grammatical mistakes since the accepted abstracts will be published as submitted.

The Submitter can also save abstract as a draft till the submission deadline. Once the deadline is over, changes or corrections will not be permitted,and the abstract submitted as draft will be considered as final.

3. Word count:
The maximum word count of the abstract is limited to 300 words.

4. Title:
The title should appropriately define the topic of your research. The word count allowed for title is 30 words.

5. Author(s):
Mention the full name of all authors. The presenting author’s name should be mentioned first in the sequence. Omit any titles, degrees or institutional affiliations. It is advisable to check the correct spelling of the family name of each author.

6. Affiliation:
Mention the institution, department, city and country. Mention all co-authors.

7. Content:
Please note that all the abstracts being submitted may cover the following:

  • Introduction & Objectives
  • Materials & Methods
  • Results
  • Conclusion
  • Keywords

If your abstract does not fit into this format, please choose alternative headings that are appropriate.

Where relevant, make use of reporting guidelines specific for your study design, e.g. available at the Equator Network website : https://www.equator-network.org/reporting-guidelines

Tables and graphs can be submitted with your abstract as an attached image document. Put your name in the file name. Allowed formats are: gif, png, jpg, jpeg, tif, tiff, pdf. Please insert the reference in the abstract (Table 1, Figure 1, etc.).

8. Abbreviations:
Please use standard abbreviations. Abbreviations should be spelled out in parentheses, in the first use in the abstract.

9. Presentation Preference:
Please indicate your preference for Oral/E-Poster presentation, which will be displayed during the online submission process.

  • Oral Presentation - Time for oral presentation of each Scientific Paper will be restricted to 8 minutes, with additional 2 minutes for Q&As.
  • Digital Poster Presentation – Information regarding AV management and Output device will be provided later.

10. Submission Deadline: Deadline for abstract submission is August 31st, 2019 (Indian Standard Time).
It is advisable to submit abstracts early to avoid last minute technical issues.

11. Abstract acceptance/rejection date:
Abstracts will be reviewed and notification of abstract acceptance/rejection will be sent within six weeks of receipt or October 15th, 2019 whichever is earlier.

12. Registration:
Registration is mandatory to present the scientific paper/poster post acceptance.

13. Copyright Policy:
Abstracts should not include libellous or defamatory content. Material presented in abstracts should not violate any copyright laws. If figures/graphics/images have been taken from sources not copyrighted by the author, it is the author’s sole responsibility to secure the rights from the copyright holder in writing to reproduce those figures/graphics/images for both worldwide print and web publication. All reproduction costs charged by the copyright holder must be borne by the author.

14. Plagiarism:
The conference organizers regard plagiarism as serious professional misconduct. All abstracts are screened for plagiarism and when identified, the abstract and any other abstracts submitted by the same author are rejected.

15. Conflict of interest:
A conflict of interest disclosure statement or a declaration by the authors that they do not have any conflicts of interest to declare should be made during online submission of the abstract.

16. Criteria for evaluation of the abstracts :
Quality of the contribution using as criteria:

  • Scientifically sound
  • Clearly written
  • When relevant: clear images added
  • Innovative for science and/or practice
  • Aiming to contribute to a better health, safety and/or work ability of workers, or to improvement of occupational health care
  • Addresses one or more of the elements specified in the conference theme.

17. Criteria for disqualification of a Proposal

  • The presentation promotes commercial interests
  • The proposal is not completed according to the guidelines.
  • The proposal was not received at Conclave website by the appropriate deadline
  • The proposal was faxed or mailed.
